From Seven Bold Women, a Legacy of Purpose

In 1843, women from the Sisters of Mercy religious order sailed from Ireland to help solve the toughest social problems facing Pittsburgh. Based on principles of social justice, their community would found Carlow University, a place where that legacy lives on today in the men and women who study, teach, and work here.
